When I got my first job as a photographer at 16 years old, there was a great guy who did the printing for the company. This allowed us to get the photographing done, while John did the printing. And he was good at it. For my personal work I did my own printing but never really enjoyed it. I don't know about you but I always try and steer clear of things I don't enjoy.
Then along came digital, and I found that most photographers suddenly stopped printing. Weird. There is nothing like seeing a photograph in print. Imagine looking at your favourite painting on a screen and yet never seeing the original. It can only be a pale imitation.
So it is with photographs too.
Then I came across Martin Henson. Residing in the U.K. but known internationally, Martin has been a superb photographer and printer for many years. Normally, but not exclusively, he does landscape work. Usually in monochrome. A short conversation ensued and he has been doing my printing ever since. Mostly candid photos, proving as I knew it would that Martin can print in any genre. Back to the old days for me, concentrating on taking photographs and getting an expert print.
Martin seems to instinctively know how to print my photographs. I need little photoshopping, usually just sharpening, brightness/contrast and some cropping. Martin uses some high tech equipment, but like most experts he makes it look easy.
So there we are, an unashamed plug for the best printer I’ve come across. If you want to see high quality prints of your work, contact Martin.
